France: Forecasts 2012 Ad Spending Revised Downward
The lastest forecasts relased this week for the French advertising market, the 7th largest ad market, have been revised down. Despite this fact, France should escape the advertising recession in the euro area.
ZenithOptimedia: forecasts downward with a slightly positive trend (+0.9%)
The media agency Publicis Groupe, has also downgraded France slightly from 1.4% growth this year to 0.9%. Internet should resist but its growth will slow with a 7.5% increase expected in 2012, compared to 12.5% in 2011.
Magna Global: forecasts downward with a slight decline (-1%)
The Interpublic agency, predicts a decline of the French market (-1%) in 2012 but a positive growth for the online market to 13.4%.
Global ad spending is expected to resist thanks to emerging countries, the Olympics and the U.S. presidential election. This market should show positive growth. Magna Global is, however, more optimistic than ZenithOptimedia, predicting global ad expenditure will grow 4.8% in 2012 (vs. 5.1% previously anticipated), compared to 4.3% growth forecasted by ZenithOptimedia (vs. 4.8% announced in March).
